For the apps we had the Pesto Bread and the Crab cakes. The Pesto bread was good, the crab cakes were okay. I've had better. We ordered the Cajun Cowboy and the Shrimp au Gratin pizzas. The Cajun Cowboy was a table favorite! The brisket was spicy and the fried onions rocked! The Shrimp au Gratin was so so. The cheese and onions were good but the shrimp it's self seemed to have no flavor. Almost like they just sauted some frozen shrimp and tossed them on the pizza as an after thought. We tried the Root Beer Float and Borboun Vanilla ice cream for dessert. Both VERY good. The Root Beer tasted just like a Barq's Float and the Borboun Vanilla was very light and refreshing. (I could have had more)

For the appetizer I ordered an entrée Cesar salad ($8.99) for the table. They brought out a tiny app size and insisted that it was a large. Foolishness. It ended up that the girl was wrong, and sent out another appetizer size to compensate. We got 2 pizzas. The Allemonster's toppings were great, but the pizza was slapped poorly. It was too thin in the middle and the crust too thick. The crust could not support the toppings and they slide off. The Perkins Pesto with: shrimp, goat cheese, pecans and sun-dried tomatoes, was excellent. They have creative, Louisiana inspired, pizzas like D & A Gumbo, and Alligator Sausage Piquant pizzas; both with a tomato roux sauce. We had to try the ice cream at a "pizza and ice cream joint." Come to find out, they only have a small selection of ice cream in the "pizza joint." You must go next door for the full experience. We tried the raspberry sorbet, cinnamon, and café au lait ice creams. All of which were wonderful. Overall they had a nice environment with large TVs and clean interior. The pizza was good, not outstanding. The toppings were original and added a lot. The service was average to poor. Our servers seemed inexperienced, albeit they have only been open a short time. I will probably go back.

Great food, great beer, great specials (Thursday night happy hour!), and great service. The new management rocks, and this is definitely a go-to for delicious lunches and dinners. Love the pizzas and homemade ice cream, especially the s'mores flavor! Have been going for quite some time, and yet to be disappointed.

Oscars is our favorite restaurant in all of baton rouge. Great unique pizzas, lots of tvs and delicious homemade ice cream.

This place has fun daily pizza specials which are always good. Their homemade ice cream is pretty good as well. They're a little higher priced but worth it because the food is higher quality.

I won't be back. Went to pick up my pizza only to find they messed it up. I had to wait another 20 minutes. I was not offered anything for my inconvenience. .

I'm not sure why they thought it was a good idea to change the name from Oscars, but the food doesn't seem to have been impacted much, at least. We've been here a few times, both as Oscars and Souga (seriously? Lame name), and have always enjoyed the food and service. The atmosphere is nice too, though I was disappointed to see the colors getting a little more drab with the black table cloths etc. last time I was in. Come on, guys. The tables probably needed to be redone (they were these cool images with a lacquer finish on top), but the eh tablecloths are so not the answer.

Sign on the door on the 23rd of July said business was closed due to rent not being paid.

Sad to see the place has new ownership and seems to be taking a new direction with a new name, branding and whatnot. Time will tell, but Oscar's was great while it lasted. Hope the new owner's are as committed to fresh, seasonal and local with top-notch execution of their menu. I give it four stars for what it was, and hope it can continue to be.

Very nasty gumbo (super dry chicken in it, no egg or scallion like described) pizza servings went WAYYYY down. Probably won't come back.

This was my first time at Souga Pizza Factory, and I don't think I'll be coming back. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 small pizzas. I ordered the Flyin' Hawaiian, and my boyfriend ordered the Pig and Fig. First of all, it took about 55 minutes for our two small pizzas to come out. The server did apologize for the wait, but come on...that is ridiculous. My flying Hawaiian was incredibly salty and flavorless, though the cheese was good. I love salt in my food, but this was just way too much. The Pig and Fig pizza was ok though. I even requested a side of ranch to save my pizza, but unfortunately the ranch was also flavorless. I am very disappointed. :(

I ate here after the lunch rush around 2pm in the afternoon. There was only 1 other customer dining at this time on a weekday. I sat at the bar and was recommended the fig and proscuitto pizza, as well as some pastas. As I didn't want anything too heavy, so I opted for the personal-sized pizza. Its flavors were mild and sweet. Actually, too sweet for my taste. If you're a gal who loves sweets, get this one. Guys'll probably want stick with more traditional, meatier toppings. Their crust is a bit on the thin side - something which I prefer. I also ordered the arancini which is a plate of breaded sundried tomatoey rice. Almost like fried boudin balls. This wonderful appetizer came out before the pizza, and its texture was awesome because the inner mushiness contrasted well with the stiff, breaded exterior shell. The presentation was beautiful, yet the whipped garlic goat cheese taste was really strong (and not because of the garlic, if you know what i mean)! Eaten with the savory pizza, I didn't think the two mixed well together. If I were to order again, I'd probably have the arancini with a salad. The service was good!

We were on the way back to Houston from New Orleans and decided to stop at this gem after reading some reviews on yelp. The pizza and wine were great and the ice cream was so good. The service was awesome as well.

My daughter and a friend and I went to Souga Friday night. The food was outstanding as usual. We started off with some wings with homemade blue cheese dressing to dip them in. They were great. We ordered three different pizzas, one Spicy Quick Wick, one Flying Hawaiian and one Red Beans and Slice. They were all very good. We ended the night with some cookies and dough and smores ice cream. That was also very good. I don't remember our waiter's name but he was very attentive and helpful. This is by far the best pizza place in Baton Rouge. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because of the beer selection. They didn't have several beers that we wanted that Oscar's carried before Souga's took over. Other than that, it was a great experience!

Good pizza. They have some nice craft beers on tap. Some from local breweries as well. Good service. They have great ice cream as well.

Everything was great. I came here on a first date a couple weekends ago and this place was a last minute pick. She really wanted pizza and being from up north, I know a good pie down here is rare. We gave it a shot and were rewarded with good food and service. The atmosphere was nice. It's a laid back sports themed restaurant with a nice little bar. We took the booth in the back with the little flat screen at the edge of the table so we could watch the baseball game. The caprese salad was Amazing! The mozzarella was some of the best I've ever had. We split a margherita pizza and a goat pizza with goat cheese and balsamic vinegar. Obviously we had to take some home. We topped it off with some strawberry shortcake ice cream, which was maybe the best decision of the night. We were enjoying ourselves so much and didn't realize that we had been sitting there an hour and a half past closing! The young staff was so courteous and kind that we had no idea. I tipped them well. The date was a big success thanks to the food and staff of Oscars so I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for good eats and chill vibes.

We have been coming to this place for about 2 years now and have always walked out of the door smiling. The food is fresh and delicious also the service is top notch. They have an in house ranch dressing that is green in color and it is the best ranch dressing that I have ever tasted. It is a great dip for my chicken wings and my pizza crust.

Mmm, Oscar's! I found out about this place on Yelp, and I'm so glad I did. We came for happy hour which is every weekday from 3-6pm. During this time, Oscar's has half-off drafts, 50 cent wings, and $5 pizzas. The day we dined there, arancini had just been added to the appetizer menu and we were the first to try it! For those who don't know, arancini is risotto which has been scooped into a ball, breaded, and fried. It is divine! Oscar's did it right with basil and sun-dried tomato arancini served with whipped goat cheese. Drafts were great too and we had Lazy Magnolia's Southern Pecan (only $2!) and Fat Tire ($2.50). Too full from our appetizer to eat pizza, but not wanting to miss out, we took our pizzas to go. I ordered the fig & prosciutto minus the prosciutto and loved every bite-- fresh fig jam as a base topped with mozzarella. The crust was on point too, and rivals Mellow Mushroom's which I also love. Our server, Margot, was super sweet and made our experience even better. Looking forward to heading back to Oscar's for some more delicious food and drinks.

I found this place last year when I was looking for a hot dog place for my kid. I found them just as they had changed hands. They didn't even have new menu's yet. My wife and I got to meet one of the owners. The food we got was amazing. Every time we go back they continue to deliver high quality food consistently. The Prosciutto and Fig Pizza or Calzone is out of this world. My personal favorite is the SS Gumbo Calzone. The junior size pizza for the little one's is amazing. One of the best parts of this place is that they have Abita Root Beer ON TAP! They serve it to you in a frozen pint glass too. It get's better. The desserts are incredible. They make their own ice cream. In fact they make everything themselves. My son loves the chocolate, and they make the world's best Tiramisu according to my mother-in-law. They frequently run happy hour specials and do updates to facebook to remind you. Too many good things to talk about, their salad's are awesome. They don't throw iceberg lettuce in the salad, they use spinach and leafy greens in each of their salads from the house salad to the seafood salad. It's all good here. The tomato and mozzarella with balsamic vinaigrette is very well done and presented with finesse. This place is good for a small date night with your spouse, family dinner or just to hang out with friends, or to watch the game. They'll continue to get my business.

Great pizza! My husband and I were visiting here from out of state. I love local finds and this is one of them. The space is small, my only complaint. The service was good, the salad was good, the pizza was great and White Russian ice cream for dessert, was the cherry on top! The pizza reminded us of the pizza we ate while in Italy. My husband visits Baton Rouge for business quite often, we will be eating here again. Thanks!

Oscar's sourdough crust sets it apart from the rest. Choice of different sauces beyond the traditional marinara is a plus. Fig and Pig is our favorite. Great salads too.

My boy wanted to try this place cause he loved the sign...The "O" in Oscar's looks like it's smoking a joint and him being a 14 year old struck his funny bone since it's called Oscar's...Joint. So I said OK and took him after his final Christmas play performance...we slid in about 9:30 PM and they close at 10 PM...we were the only people in other than a group of 6 that was finishing up....looks like they could seat about 40-45 if they were packed to the rafters... Had quite a few selections of Tin Roof beer on tap...went with a coffee infused Tin Roof offering that tasted akin to Guinness and was very good. Tried to order a half and half pizza (1/2 Pepperoni and Black Olives and other half Pep and Black Olives along with jalapenos, ground beef and mushrooms)...However ran into an issue when the pizza maker made the whole pizza with everything I wanted on my side) At this point they earned the 5th star because Customer Service kicked in and we received the same size pizza with just Pepperoni and Black Olives for the boy AT NO CHARGE... The pizzas were muy delicioso (a little Spanish lingo=damn good eating!) and while the boy waited on his to come out he even tried a piece of my pie and I was proud because that was the first time I can recall he ever tried a piece of pizza that had more than pepperoni and black olives on it!!! The ingredients were fresh and the jalapenos were fiery and yummy!!! The crust on the pizzas were firm and crisp and they brush the dough with some herb and butter concoction that gives a great golden color and adds a nice flavor!! I will definitely put this place on a Baton Rouge list and be back again...

Brought my 12 year old daughter with me. This is her review. So many toppings that they fall off. Good quality toppings & tastes good. They check on you a lot and keep refilling your drink. They let you sample sauces or ingredients if you aren't sure you will like it.

Having just moved here from Brooklyn, I have been disappointed with the Pizza so far. Oscars is the exception. Great pizza. Tried the pepperoni, but all their pizzas look really good. Fantastic crust.

Maybe it's that this place had a near perfect rating and I was expecting too much. I really wanted to like this place but I don't think I'll go back. First of all, it is outrageously priced but I would have been OK with that if the pizza would have been good. Our pizza came out BURNED. We got the prosciutto and fig on half of the pizza. It is a great concept. Salty and sweet. If it wouldn't have been burned it may have tasted good. On the other half we got "all that jazz" and it came out wrong. We asked for no onions. I decided not to complain about that because they can be picked off, but when you pay that much for a pizza you shouldn't have to correct anything. The service was below par but not horrible. I think it was just our server because the other servers seemed better. Ours however, smelled like cigarettes which is gross when you are trying to eat. She also seemed like she was high on something...she kept messing things up and forgetting things. At least we were able to get full.

Oscar's is a great place for a casual meal. The salads are delicious (Greek wedge and the chicken Caesar, especially!), pizza is really good, and the beer selection is great for a place this size. Thursday is all-day happy hour, with cheap wings and pizza. This place has potential to become a regular.

I had high hopes for our plan to eat at Oscar's but was rather disappointed in relation to the Yelp hype. For one and the thing that stood out most was the service. Its not terrible but extremely unorganized and at times questionable. The worst was that our soft drinks weren't served with ice. Seriously? After asking for ice they rudely poured ice in our drinks instead of just making new ones. Not a big deal but don't make me feel like a lunatic for wanting a cold beverage. Anyway, the servers tend to all help each other which is good but it makes me unsure as to who to talk to which I found a bit annoying. Though, the service other than those two things was fine but nothing more. Due to the hype and the awesome menu I figured the food would easily make up for the service problems. Unfortunately it didn't. We had the SS Gumbo, All That Jazz and the Fig & Prosciutto pizzas. All were good but again nothing more. I thought the idea of them were better than the execution. Then again I haven't seen a variety like theirs so props for that. Then the bill came and I wasn't very happy, expensive for what we got and compared to other similar style pizza joints. Overall I feel I would of liked Oscar's much more if I hadn't read the reviews first. The pizza was good and it was a nice place and fun time but not 5 star worthy. I was happy leaving though because I think they felt my disappointment and offered me a free beer, I didn't want it but the gesture was more than enough.

Great menu. Good food. For some reason we didn't have an actual server. Just some guy who cleaned the windows in between checking on my fiance and I. Kind of weird but the food helped overcome that. Overall very underwhelming. Until I had the PB&J Ice Cream! Hell, I might go back just for that, and I am going back!

  • Jason Z.

Pros: For the pizza we ordered the "All that jazz" which was an excellent choice. Lots of fresh ingredients in the pizza and you can tell it was done by hand and not frozen. The spices were on mark and the crust was seasoned and soft. We also had some ice cream which was great. Service was nice and seemed quick and the atmosphere was great. My only cons were that the crust on bottom was a bit too soft. Could of been a bit crisper because the toppings were sliding off. Also the ice cream needs some sort of stabilizer because the texture was a bit rough (ice crystals) but the taste was delicious. Even with the cons the pizza was the best I have had in a very long time. I was actually impressed.
